Point-in-Time Count
The 2023 annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is taking place the week of January 23rd-January 27th with January 23rd being the designated night of the count. During the count, we take a census of those living unhoused in our community. Specifically, we survey people who are experiencing literal homelessness and who are sleeping in unsheltered locations or in emergency shelters, transitional housing, or safe havens on the night of the count. The PIT Count is a federal requirement under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and helps communities across the country understand the extent of homelessness, the demographics of those experiencing homelessness, trends over time, and progress in making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring. To make the count happen, we rely on the commitment and collaboration of volunteers, partner organizations, and the street outreach community of workers. Thank you to everyone who is assisting with this year’s count. We appreciate you! Let’s make everyone count!
